Infrastructureless™ Data Centers eliminate the need for Hyper Infrastructured Data Centers (HIDCs). Local governments and residents are increasingly limiting, delaying, or halting HIDC construction due to severe infrastructure strain on the electric grid and water resources, growing environmental concerns (including carbon emissions and reliance on diesel backup generators), and land-use conflicts. In stark contrast, the patented Infrastructureless™ Data Center requires no grid or water connection. It produces zero emissions of any kind and completely bypasses land-use conflicts by deploying on underutilized commercial rooftop space—transforming idle rooftops into valuable self-sufficient computing.
While our preferred deployment method is on the roofs of existing large commercial buildings, Infrastructureless™ can be deployed on carports and new or existing utility-scale fields. Infrastructureless™ can also be deployed in the most remote regions of the world, providing a digital on ramp for the approximately 2 billion “unbanked” people to become “banked” (obtain a financial transaction account) so they can participate in and benefit from the global economy. Additionally, they can be used to form space constellations, on satellites, space stations, the Moon and Mars.
Our streamlined approach dramatically cuts the upfront capital and time requirements, as well as the lengthy permitting processes associated with (HIDCs). HIDCs often require billions of dollars in upfront investment and take years to design, permit, and construct. Infrastructureless™ will bypass many of these issues.
Hyper-infrastructured data centers (HIDCs) are where the demands of digitalization, computation, and the immense need for natural resources collide. HIDCs are plagued with excessive external and internal infrastructure. They consume immense amounts of power and water, while expelling acoustic waste, carbon emissions, and diesel or methane particulates. HIDCs generally use more power for cooling than their servers and network fabrics consume. HIDCs also suffer from both external and internal electrical losses due to several factors. As Alternating Current (AC) travels away from the power plant, it experiences losses during transmission and distribution, primarily due to resistance in the power lines, which causes some of the electrical energy to dissipate as heat. When Alternating Current reaches the HIDC, additional losses occur during the conversion and rectification process to Direct Current (DC). HIDCs require DC power for their IT equipment, so the incoming AC power must be converted to DC. This conversion and rectification process is not efficient, leading to further energy losses. Overall, these losses can add up to an average electrical loss of 30% of generated power, impacting the overall efficiency of power delivery to data centers.
In contrast, Infrastructureless™ operates with near-zero electrical loss, bypassing the extensive chain of inefficiencies inherent in traditional (HIDCs). By eliminating these multi-stage transmission, conversion, and distribution losses, Infrastructureless™ can deliver up to 30% more effective compute capacity from the same amount of generated energy.
